About Mrs. DeCristofaro
This school year will be my eleventh year working in North Shore School District 112. I have spent most my time here at NSSD112 teaching first grade but have also taught kindergarten and second grade. It is extremely useful to have a deep understanding of what the students learned during their kindergarten year and what they are expected to know as they enter the next grade at the end of the year to meet the individual needs of my first grade students. First graders will be provided intellectually challenging learning experiences in a supportive and positive learning environment that will help them to develop an understanding of necessary first grade concepts and strategies and will help them to build confidence in their own intellect. Additionally, my hope is that each first grader will continue to discover a desire to become lifelong learners.
I received my Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University having majored in Elementary Education. I also have also completed my Master of Education in Reading and Literacy in June 2011 at Benedictine University. My Master’s Degree also allowed me to obtain my reading specialist certification. I have learned several new reading strategies in my courses and I’m always eager to use them to engage and support my first graders.
I truly believe the parents and the teacher are a team working to help their child succeed. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have to ensure a successful year for your child.
