Dear First Grade Families,
I would like to welcome you to first grade at Indian Trail School! I am excited to begin the 2018-2019 school year and get to know more about each of my students. This school year will be my eleventh year working in North Shore School District 112. I have spent most my time here at NSSD112 teaching first grade but have also taught kindergarten and second grade. I am thrilled to be teaching first grade this year because is an exciting and fun year where your child will make an incredible amount of personal and academic growth.
Additionally, we are so lucky to have Carly Goldstein co-teaching in our first grade class this year. This school year will be Mrs. Goldstein's ninth year teaching special education in North Shore School District 112. She has taught kindergarten through 5th grade and is so excited to be a part of the first grade team this year. Co-teaching means your child will have two licensed teachers in the classroom for the majority of the day. We will work collaboratively to plan lessons, and will work with all students. This will give us the opportunity for more individualized instruction, small group time, a wider variety of learning in whole group instruction, and increased rigor. Mrs. Goldstein is excited to have this opportunity to work with you and your child.
I hope that everyone is enjoying the last few weeks of their summer break. I am looking forward to talking to my new students about their summer adventures! Believe it or not, Supply Drop-Off Day is on Friday, August 17th from 1:30pm-3:00pm and school begins on Monday, August 20th! On the first day, school will begin at 8:40am and students will be dismissed at 1:40pm. The first full day of school is Tuesday, August 21st. Please send your child with a fruit or vegetable for a snack and a lunch for both days.
I believe that parent/teacher communication is extremely important to ensure a positive and successful first grade year for your child. Please do not ever hesitate to call or email me with questions or concerns about your child. Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Mrs. DeCristofaro
