Hello Room 104 families! We had a busy and productive week.
- In literacy we started working with a new anchor text called Whose Is This? We worked on identifying setting and important details to help us understand the story. We will continue working with this text for the next couple of weeks.
- In writing we are continuing to work on book reviews and opinion pieces. This week the students will also work on a schoolwide writing piece on what it means to be a good citizen.
- This coming Friday will be our final spelling test for the school year. The children will still work on word work in class, however new lists will not be going home. This was a grade level decision.
- In math the children worked with problems on the number line, counting by 5's and 10's, as well as counting, reading and writing numbers to 120. Looking ahead, we will be adding and subtracting two-digit numbers.
- In science the children continued to work with light. They used a flashlight to sort various objects into categories- opaque, translucent or transparent.
- This Friday 5/24/19 is an early dismissal day- students will be dismissed at 11:40am.
- This week is Disabilities Awareness Week at Indian Trail. We will begin with an assembly on Monday morning and we will have several learning activities to tie in.
- The first graders will be taking MAP tests this week. On Tuesday morning at 9AM is the Math MAP test, and Wednesday morning at 9AM is the reading MAP test. There is nothing you need to do, please just make sure your child has a good night's sleep and a healthy breakfast to be ready!
